About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah.

Writer and editor. Lover of words and stories. Proponent of proper grammar. Exceptionally talented at spotting errors on menus.

I always knew I wanted to be a writer, but I didn’t know what that looked like. So I earned a BA from McGill in anthropology and women’s studies, which inspired me to travel and teach English in Southeast Asia for a couple of years. I wrote the whole time I was there (I didn’t know those notes would eventually turn in to my first published essay).

When I returned to Canada I got a job as an ESL teacher and a baker’s assistant and signed up for the Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University, studying creative non-fiction with Wayde Compton. It was a thrill to be surrounded by people as excited about words and stories as I was.

My love of writing led to further studies in Editing at SFU, and I’ve been working as freelance editor since 2007. It’s such a privilege to help others make their writing shine.

I am lucky to live and work in Port Moody, BC on the traditional and unceded territories of the Kwikwetlem, Musqueam, Squamish, Stó:lō and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
